King Price Race to the Sea announced to be the first-ever SA gravel bike championship.
Cycling South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that the SA gravel bike championship for 2022 has been awarded to one of the Faces Africa events, King Price Race to the Sea.
King Price Race to the Sea is a 164 km gravel bike race from Franschhoek to Benguela Cove in Hermanus on 3 September 2022. With 2330 m of elevation over 164 km, this is a gravel challenge worth conquering.
Riders over the age of 19 are eligible to compete in the inaugural Gravel bike championship, which will likely be a showdown between the top road and mountain bike racers in South Africa. Riders will be able to compete using a gravel bike or mountain bike which will add another interesting dynamic to the event where riders can choose their weapons.
The hugely successful inaugural event was held in September 2021 and promises to become an iconic must-do event on any gravel bike rider’s calendar. A great aspect of the event is that it also caters for recreational participants looking for an extraordinary experience on this challenging 100-mile journey.
Faces will ensure that there are plenty of support, cold Devil’s Peak lager at the finish and the best water points in the business for amateurs and pro’s alike.
